happy halloween

it’s been a while, and i have plenty to share.

first off, my computer has been fixed for a while, i just haven’t updated. i’m finding it difficult to take pictures lately, i don’t know why. but if i don’t have a picture, i can’t update, and i end up not updating. i guess i need to work on that.

caroline’s here. she flew in the other day, and she’s staying for 10 days total. i want to try to show her some new yorky things, since she’s never been to the east coast before. it doesn’t feel much like i have a friend visiting though, she seems pretty comfortable here, and it’s more like she lives here or something. which is pretty cool.

so today we carved this pumpkin (it was mostly her, because she’d never really carved a pumpkin before), set up some neat decorations, and… worked. we should not be working, but we both desperately want to finish up this huge update to a good portfolio, and so we’ve spent a lot of time working since she came. we’ll be done soon. tonight, though, we ran out of candy just after it got dark, and i had to run out to the grocery store to buy more, in case more kids came. we didn’t want any poor kids to get no candy, but as soon as we got back with 3 more bags, there weren’t any more trick or treaters. lame.

nick & missy & jenni all came over though, and we watched some weird movies and ate lots of junk food together. sleep hollow & american psycho. the second being incrementally more odd than the first, but both being weird and funny.

on friday, i went to the high school to talk to some highschool art kids. paul, whom i graduated with, had set the whole thing up – we went back to the cute art teacher’s classes and talked about what we were doing with our lives, trying to instill some sort of lesson. paul wanted to sell some shirts, but we all wanted to give the kids some motivation, i guess. it was a ton of fun, whether it did any good or not. paul & regina & i hung out, we hung out with jennifer, the teacher, and we all had a fun time doing it.

also, i’ve been spending a lot of time with dana lately. there’s no more drama there, it’s just two single kids now, who are both pretty fond of each other. we’ve been doing fun things – watching movies, going out to eat, playing games – and i really love it. her family is wonderful, too, her mom is super cool. i don’t intend to gush about anything just yet, but i’ll say at least that i’m excited, and that’s a big deal to me.
