2 days after ordering it, my new camera arrived. i’ll get back to that.
last you heard, everything was a mess. and it was. it’s much less a mess now. the problems are getting sorted out, piece by stressful piece. there were some bumps with caroline, and in retrospect it was because we weren’t on the same page. we both realized some things, and we talked about them, and we’re good now. maybe on the way up again is a better way to put it. she said aloud to someone today that our business is pretty much a family business, and it made me warm & fuzzy on the inside.
heather & i talked too, since that last thing i wrote about her. and we worked out what we were both agitated about, and were instantly cool, too.
it seems a whole lot can be worked out just by being really open about your feelings. who knew. but thanks to all my friends, and all my friends friends, for, yano, being cool. eric, regina – you’re both included in that, specifically.
now. back to it. 2 days ago i was looking at some videos, some absolutely incredible, cinematic hd videos, and realized they were all done with the same camera. i investigated, and shortly realize that that camera was the camera i had hoped my new nikon d90 would be. pretty much immediately i’d decided to sell the d90 & get this new camera – a canon, just like i used to have. so all my old lenses would work, i already had some cards & a card reader, and i knew i’d be satisfied. it came right quick, showing up today to my surprise. and i haven’t had a chance to test everything i wanna test yet, but i already feel at home using it. better interface, sharper image, less noise at high ISO’s. and i played a bit with the video, but actually, my card is too slow to process recording video, so i didn’t get to do anything longer than about 3 seconds. i did get to test out the awesome slow motion that’s possible with this new camera in those 3 seconds, though, and it’s crazy. you’ll see. i’ll run to the store tomorrow before work & buy a cheap, faster card to play with. because in a couple days there’s a contest that’s ending, where you make a video that’s 140 seconds long, about your life, or your day, or kind of just whatever. and the 2 best videos win $100,000 & $25,000 respectively. i could use that dough, it’d be pretty stupid to not submit something. so i’m really excited for this new camera.
also, as a nice change of pace, i’ve got a busy social life this week. i’ve been quite stressed out over work the past 10 days or so, and it’s good to force myself to have fun instead. so tomorrow, dana’s coming for lunch (i’ve started forcing myself to take a break for lunch, too, which i pretty much haven’t done all year). then tomorrow night, a movie with heather. then thursday night is wing night with heather & nick & missy. mmm, wings. and friday night, my boatmate from this summer, mickey, is coming to visit, so heather & she & i are gonna go out on the town & get stupid. i need some stupid to counter all this serious.
so here’s to ups.
