south detroit, born & raised

i just got home from hanging out with tree, which was a lot of fun. we played pool at korky’s, and i’m surprised she enjoyed it, because i’m pretty decent at pool and she admitted she was far from it. but she didn’t want to stop. it gave us something to do while we chatted. and i had an interesting conversation with korky, the owner; he told me to tell my friends to come play there, cuz they’ve got zero business. he told me he’s tried everything. big signs on the main street that, out of 500 people he surveyed, none saw it, 140 thousand coupons sent out to newspapers, 50 of which got used, an ice cream stand that is 300% cheaper than the other ice cream places, but no one goes to it. i want to help come up with some clever advertising campaign to help him out. i haven’t got any ideas yet.

but then we went to wegmans, where we bought some fruit and jones sodas and talked some more. we ended up exchanging licks on the very nice piano that they try to persuade people not to play. i can only remember two songs (a rose thomas song, and don’t stop believin’), but i can make stuff up that sounds nice. she’s actually quite talented at classical music.

it was a simple evening, and quite fun. tomorrow, CA & will do something. maybe go to korkys. i still have to call stacey, hang out with pete, call al listen to go to colemans. i think you can probably tell, but, in general, i feel good. this is drastically different from when i was home before going to california, and it’s because of my mindset. i like that i’m in control of my life.

oh yeah. and i won that camera i wanted on ebay. it’s pretty much brand new, and it’s a cool $150 cheaper than the used one i almost bought before. it’s shipping from china. i’m excited. i’ve gotta getta lens for it, and the one i really want is decently cheap, but out of stock pretty much everywhere on earth. i called a place, who promised to call me back (possibly tomorrow) when they know when they’ll get a shipment in. hope it’s soon, i’m excited. :-)
