i think mousse might be the answer to my hair control issues. i had more profound things to say earlier, but i’m easily distracted these days.

i’m going to a party tomorrow night. woohoo! social interaction, it’s my goal for the semester. i asked a girl out today, too, but she was busy, i left it with one of those “some other time,” but i’m proud of myself for doing it when i promised myself i would. no chickening out for micah anymore, no sir.

i was at school all day, even though my day was supposed to start at 3:45. that’s when my first class is, and then after i’m scheduled to work 7pm to midnight. but i got a bunch of work worked on (not done, per se), and the morning was quite productive. sometimes design work is hard to measure, yano? it involves a lot of thinking, not necessarily doing all the time, which is why i think a lot of designers equate it to problem solving. so even though i haven’t got a ton to show for this morning’s work, i was still quite productive.

caro and i are working on a few projects together, one of which i’m especially excited about. she was commissioned to do the commencement/graduation branding and materials, like the parking passes, admission invitations, and, most importantly, the brochure. since we’re working as a team lately, she asked me to help her with it, and even though she’s got a pretty good chunk of the beginning stages done, i was there to offer ideas and bounce stuff around with.

but, the exciting part. she wants to incorporate a lot of photography into the design, specifically photography that is my kinda shnaz. natural light portraiture, extreme compositions. we want to use it as the design, but more than that, we came up with the idea that the commencement brochure should be like a yearbook, because we don’t have a yearbook. not only do you get to remember your friends, but it could prove to be useful for networking down the road, i/e remembering who you went to school with by name and face. plus, people usually just throw away the commencement brochures after the ceremony, because it’s just a boring list of names… but they wouldn’t throw away a yearbook, now would they? especially one with really fantastic photography like we’re planning. she’s got to OK it with the powers that be, but it really is a fantastic idea, and if we can convince them to fork over a tiny bit more cash, and find a way to make the senior pictures mandatory, we’ll be in in like flynn.

i better get to bed before i pass out. i finished my nighttime cold medicine tonight. it only last a few days, it seems. i shudda gone for the bigger bottle.
