nothing old in california

micah had an awfully exciting day. he got to sleep in a bit for once, which he greatly appreciated. then his friend liz, with whom he’s never really hung out with before, picked him up. liz’s thesis involves finding new purposes for old items, so she was on a quest to find an antique flea market. micah’s not as much of as an expert as everyone else in his family, but antiques and flea markets are still in his blood, so he asked if he could come along.
they found the place they were looking for. it was something of an adventure getting there, but they found it. it was in torrance.
it was insane, just so many people. it was more like a six flags than a flea market, and once we got inside, it was unbelievable what we found. a bajillion vendors, all selling brand new items, no antiques at all. knockoffs everywhere. tvs and ipods and perfumes and socks. we were pretty disappointed, so we went to go try to find another place. we went to her house to use the internet, and found a place that sounded promising. we drove all the way out there, to korea town, which is near downtown, and a very far ways away from venice, where she lives. it wasnt until we got there that we realized how ritzy the area is. not korea town, but the place we were searching for was just past it, and it’s the kinda place a celebrity would live. we didnt even bother going inside the store, because even if there were antiques, theyd cost an arm and a leg. we found a garage sale on the way back, in front of a grungy mechanics business. she was pretty upset that she didnt find what she was looking for, but at least we both had a fun day, getting to be friends.
it’s only ten, but i have to go to bed, so that i can spend all of tomorrow working. besides thesis work, i promised to take some photos of nicole’s company.
oh, and see this lens? it’s really wide angle, it’s something i borrowed from the school for the weekend. which means i got a flippin sweet shot of my room finally, and when i post it, i think you guys will think it’s very cool.
